MONOLITH — Everyday Opener
A solid metal tool for the small opening tasks that happen every day — packages, bottles, and the occasional straight line.
What began as a compact pocket tool gradually became something more permanent. Through years of prototypes and small changes, the form was simplified, the materials became more substantial, and the object found its place in the home.
Machined from brass or stainless steel and paired with a solid walnut stand, MONOLITH is designed to stay within reach, age with use, and return to the same place when the job is done.

Every feature is built directly into the form.
A narrow edge opens taped boxes and everyday packages. The hooked end lifts standard bottle caps. The long, flat edge works as a straightedge or underline guide, while the weight of the solid metal gives the object a steady presence on a desk or counter.
There are no moving parts and no separate mechanisms to manage. The goal was to keep the interaction immediate: pick it up, use it, put it back.

There is a particular pleasure in an object that feels right in the hand and at home in its surroundings. Monolith brings the weight of brass or stainless steel together with the warmth of walnut—a sculptural form made useful through the small rituals of daily life.

Each MONOLITH begins as solid brass or stainless steel and is cut, shaped, refined, and finished in-house.
The process combines digital fabrication with hands-on work at every stage — from machining the form to smoothing edges, finishing the surface, and fitting each piece to its walnut stand.
Working this way lets us control the details that matter: the feel in the hand, the crispness of each edge, the way the finish catches light, and the character the material develops over time.
