MONOLITH was designed as an everyday tool that does not need to be put away. Its compact metal form opens packages and bottles, then returns to a walnut base that gives it a permanent place on a desk, counter, or bar.
Precision-machined from lead-free brass or 304 stainless steel, each opener has a reassuring weight and a simple, durable construction. A full-grain leather pouch protects it when carried or stored. Brass will naturally darken, mark, and develop a patina over time, while stainless steel maintains a cooler, more consistent character.
Each MONOLITH set is made hand finished and packaged in-house by C&V Designs and produced in limited batches.

The Idea began nearly six years ago with a simple goal: to design a clever bottle opener. The earliest versions were cut by hand from raw aluminum on a bandsaw during late nights in a small basement workshop. As the geometry was shaped and refined, it began to reveal possibilities beyond its original purpose. What started as a simple opener gradually evolved into a compact EDC-style tool, designed around pocket carry and a growing collection of everyday functions.
At one point, the plan was to outsource the machining and finishing and bring the project to Kickstarter. however a move and the demands of life paused that path, but the idea never disappeared. Each time the design was revisited, its purpose became clearer. The focus gradually shifted away from something hidden in a pocket toward an object made for the home useful enough to keep within reach and refined enough to remain on display.
Dozens of versions have been made by hand and given to others over the years. The response has remained remarkably consistent, this feels intuitive to use. while its restrained form gives it a quiet, enduring presence. Nearly six years after the first rough aluminum prototype, the idea has matured into the form it was always working toward.
A useful object does not need to look complicated. Its form is intentionally reduced, yet nearly every edge, opening, and proportion has a purpose. Multiple everyday functions are resolved within a single, uninterrupted profile, allowing the tool to remain visually quiet even as its usefulness expands. Rather than announcing everything it can do, MONOLITH reveals itself gradually—through use, habit, and the unexpected tasks it naturally takes on.
